First Day of Kindergarten

So being a “work-from-home” mom I have had the absolutely wonderful privilege of spending most of the last five years daily with my girls.  But there have been so many moments since starting my own business that I have said, Oh, it will be so much easier when they are in Kindergarten.  Well, it is finally here.  They came over to my bed with smiles on their faces at 6:45am;  “Mommy is today my Kindergarten day?”  Daddy made them pancakes for breakfast and I truly thought Kendall was going to bounce out of her chair from excitement.  We’ve been going over their morning routine for the last few weeks and they did everything without even being told.  We headed out the door early, to take some pictures of course, and then headed to the bus stop.  I couldn’t believe how little they looked compared to the other kids at their stop.  But they didn’t look nervous at all.  As they headed up the bus steps, the bus driver had to tell them to stop and look back for a picture….they just couldn’t wait to get in their seat!  As the bus pulled away I was still beaming, so proud of their confidence.  It’s only now, as I download their photos and try to imagine what they are doing at this time, that the tears trickle.  Not because I’m worried, not because I think they need me, but out of true love….a love, a joy, a pride, of seeing your children grow into their own person.  I know without a doubt that they are going to have a great day and that they are going to love Kindergarten.  And I also know that as the days go on, I will be glad to have the daylight hours to work (instead of my normal midnight shift), but today, just for this moment, I need to cry.

I was so honored that my cousin brought her new daughter into the studio from Pittsburgh for a newborn session!!  Her mamma (who already had a little boy at home) was so  excited for PINK and TUTUS!!!  I think she totally rocked the girly look!   Isn’t she beautiful!  And her mamma too?   I love my job!

Brie {12 days} | Duncansville Newborn Photographer

Seriously, doesn’t Brie have the best hair ever?!  Sweet Brie was just starting to experience a bit of colic the day I met her, but once she was swaddled, she was so much happier!!  And her big sister did a great job as my “assistant” during the shoot.  When I was delivering prints and canvas to her mom, I was so happy to hear that Brie was finally feeling better.  Welcome to the world Brie!!
